Bristol, TN The Tri-Cities Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, one of over 125 Affiliates nationwide dedicated to putting an end to breast cancer, recently provided community grants totaling $251,939.30 to support Tri-Cities area breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs.

Of the more than $.75 of every dollar raised:
- Up to 75% is used to fund education, screening and
treatment programs
in the 22-county region the Komen Tri- Cities Affiliate
serves.
- A minimum of 25%
goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure National
Research Grants and Awards Program.
On a Local LevelThrough the support of our signature fundraiser, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tri-Cities Affiliate Race for the Cure, other events, individual donations and corporate support, the Komen Tri-Cities Affiliate will contribute to local programs that aim to fulfill our mission of ending breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.
· With nearly $1billion invested to date, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage – from the causes, to the cures, to the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.
· While funding is offered at the national level for research grants, the Tri-Cities Affiliate supports a growing Community Grants program. Funding from the Community Grants Program is available to non-profit community agencies, educational organizations, and governmental agencies.
The next grants will be awarded in April, 2008. The Requests for Proposals went out in November 2007.
